LIT Program

Our LIT program is a fantastic training opportunity for teens who are beyond the age of youth camp, and not yet 17. Generally our LITs are entering grade 10 and 11, or the equivalent age.

The program begins with a week of intensive training (July 2-5) where LITs will have opportunities to reflect on their strengths and choose areas to focus on growing. They’ll learn alongside camp staff, looking at topics like understanding the developmental needs of kids, how to help kids to grow spiritually, and how to lead activities. When the training week is complete, the LITs will serve as camp leaders for two weeks of day camp. They’ll meet regularly with the LIT director in this time to debrief their experiences, assess their own growth and challenges, and continue to learn to lead.

They can choose two weeks from the following list for their leadership practice:

Week 2 (Jul 8-12)

Week 3 (Jul 15-19)

Week 4 (Jul 22-26)

Week 5 (Jul-Aug 2)

Week 6 (Aug 6-9)

Week 7 (Aug 12-16)

The fee for this program is $155. This covers all training materials, a staff uniform, and various outings and trips that the LIT group will participate in.

Unfortunately the training week and two service weeks cannot count towards high- school volunteer hours. However, should you come for an extra service week, you can use those hours for your high-school requirements.

Prepare for future employment

Gain the experience you need to apply for future work - at Knox Camps, at other camp ministries, at City-run programs, and in a variety of customer service or leadership roles.

Grow as a leader

Be mentored by a team of caring, considerate young adults who want you to GROW! You’ll spend time learning from the LIT director in a customized training program where you assess yourself and choose areas of leadership to focus on. You’ll serve one-on-one with one of our senior leaders, working alongside them to lead a group of kids during the week.
