Dear Knox Camp Community,
It is with hopefulness and yet a measure of sadness that we are informing you that this summer, 2018, will be our last Knox Overnight Camp, even as we continue Day Camp in the coming years.
Over the past few years the Camp Ministry Team have observed financial trends and growth areas that led to this decision. Because of over a decade of drastically declining registration numbers, and the huge cost of overnight camp facilities, it is no longer financially viable for us as a church to run this program. Day Camp on the other hand is growing steadily and serving kids and families from the Annex and Alexandra Park neighbourhoods around the church. Day Camp will be the focus of the camp ministry moving forward.
It is with deep gratitude for all God has done through this ministry for decades, and the countless people who have poured into it, that we approach ending Overnight camp this year. There is sorrow in saying goodbye to a fruitful and long standing ministry, but also hope that a decision that was taken wisely and carefully will also bear fruit. As a church we continue to have a vision for camp ministry in the city, focusing now on serving kids of all ages in the heart of Toronto through our Day Camp.
Mark you calendars for: Knox Camp Alumni Reunion on Sunday, July 22, 4-8pm - location and activities TBA
We are also pleased to announce that for the final Overnight 2018, we are accepting campers going into SK - Gr. 10 (or 6 - 16, birth years: 2002 - 2012).
Please keep Knox Camp in your prayers as we shepherd this transition for campers, staff and alumni with grace and hope and compassion.
